Application of Embedded Technology for Railway Signaling Systems
1. Realization of Highly Functional Railway Signaling Systems Using Digital Transmission Methods
In Japan, railway signaling systems in which control information is transmitted via rails have been deployed in many applications. We have proposed application of digital transmission methods, such as CDMA, QAM, and OFDM, to realize highly functional railway signaling systems. In this exhibition, we introduce MATLAB/Simulink-based simulation for evaluating transmission performance.
2. Development of Highly Reliable Level Crossing Controller
At single track section, level crossing controllers are installed at both sides of a level crossing. We have studied on implementation of train direction detection function for level crossings. After we analyzed time variation characteristics of received signals of actual level crossings, we proposed a train direction detection function based on this analysis. In this exhibition, we introduce analyzed results of actual level crossings, and developed signal processing system using an embedded device.
3. Proposal of Flexible Wireless Sensor System and Its Application
We have proposed a flexible system reconfiguration (FSR) method that inherits the functions of failed controllers using the surplus hardware resource margin in other controllers. We applied FSR to a wireless sensor system, and called it "flexible wireless sensor system". In this exhibition, we introduce an actually developed flexible wireless sensor system using ZigBee devices, sensors and controllers. In addition, we show its application for railway signaling systems.
